Its the holiday season, people everywhere are completely exhausted with a determination to achieve 'perfection'. I have noticed that the stress that people put themselves under is trying to control things. In my experience those unexpected moments often become wonderful talking points for the future...'do you remember when'...'oh my goodness when we forgot'.....and the laughter flows. At the time it felt like a disaster. I am choosing this year to enjoy those odd moments that are perfection and they are usually the unplanned one's. Today I had one of those walking back from the candlelight carol concert with no streetlights my Mum and I were holding lanterns, arm in arm and smiling at the stars in the sky. We had not planned it nor could we ever have, it was a perfect moment and one of the best christmas gifts ever. No wrapping, cooking or trying to be anything involved.

I thought this morning about what I would truly want from an advent calendar - after the chocolate of course, and today considering the lead up to Christmas it would be resilience.

I am constantly surprised at how life can turn itself around with a challenge or with joy. Understanding that we all need to find ways to build in energy and resilience to deal with it all is a tricky balancing act. In the spirit of keeping my energy going for a day of figures and phone calls I found this inspiring delight to eat for lunch .......perfect when you want something warming....yes I know that its for breakfast really but when you really fancy something these things go out of the window!!

Yesterday was one of those days you only want to have happen once in a lifetime - I found that my car had been vandalised overnight, along with several others nearby. So many kind people helped me out, police, insurers, the specialist car cleaner who got the spray painted graffiti off the paintwork, help with work calls, and the extra special kindness with the loan of a car so that I could go about my day as nearly planned! - I was sent this lovely picture to remind me of what matters in the world. What a delight for me later today to be leading a workshop in 'Assertiveness as Part of Effective Leadership' at Reading University - I love working with the groups there - so inspiring.

What an amazing day. Harvest festival at Braybrooke Chapel then lunch at The Swan in Braybrooke to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary. Dessert at Gilbert Cottage when there is room in our tummies. Joyous time.
